Current Challenges in the Workplace

Dr. Kevin J.A. Orieux is the CEO of Ararat Consulting, a company that does socio-economic research with respect to the social psychology of workplace interpersonal dynamics and how social interactions affect productivity. Dr. Orieux’s chief areas of expertise are in the soft skills, most notably: 1) conflict resolution 2) creating a synergistic corporate culture as well as proven strategic models for 3) increasing production and profitability by teaching management how to get their employees to become more engaged in their work

Background

In the realm of corporate training and specifically management training, the most sought-after educators are those with expertise with interpersonal dynamics, or what we labeled as the “soft skills”. Most companies who grant promotions to those within their own ranks have members of their management team who may be extremely well versed in how to produce their company’s particular product or services, but they find the interpersonal dynamics side of their management responsibilities to be the most challenging part of their jobs. This is due to a lack of formal training in the psychology of interpersonal dynamics and group dynamics. Dr. Orieux and his associates at Ararat Consulting provide training that fills this knowledge gap. More so, after having provided a keynote address, training seminar or multi-day workshop, they ensure the successful implementation of the strategies they teach by providing ongoing continuing education and counseling.

Current Challenges in the Workplace

The COVID-19 pandemic has irrevocably changed many industries and has created many new management challenges that didn’t exist prior to 2020.Since the governmental regulations for physical distancing have been relaxed and employees can return to their workplace, millions of Millennials and Gen Z employees have resisted these call backs. Bolstered by historically low unemployment rates and several other empowering socio-economic factors, young adults find that they currently have the proverbial “upper hand” when it comes to dictating the terms and conditions whereby they will (or will not) physically come to work. As the number of employees between the age of 16 – 30 now represents a third of the labor force, the growing phenomena of young adults dictating their employment terms and refusing to work under traditional models has created a new type of pandemic; it’s what socio-economists have now labeled as the Great Resignation.

Dr. Orieux’s Key Note Lectures and Seminars Addresses These Challenges

Dr. Orieux can provide training on the following themes: 1) Why Gen Z has a different mindset and work ethic from older co-workers 2) Which sociological factors motivate today’s younger workers 3) How to reduce employee attrition and increase employee retention 4) Training strategies that will indicate to management which employees to promote, and which employees to purge, in the face of an economic recession

A Change in Mindsets Amongst Younger Employees

Research done by Dr. Orieux and his team at Ararat Consulting has identified 7 sociological factors that influence today’s young adults with respect to their work ethic and more importantly, their mindsets or perception as to what it even means to “go to work”. Today, 1 out of every 3 employees is under the age of 30 and as the number of Gen Z employees increase, managements understanding of these sociological influences becomes more and more important to the creation of a stable work force.

About Dr. Kevin Orieux, CEO of Ararat Consulting

For the past 30 years, Dr. Kevin J.A Orieux and his company Ararat Consulting has been researching the social and economic factors that help companies get their younger workers to be more engaged on the job. The importance of this research cannot be understated, as the phenomena of “Employee Disengagement” accounts for over $7 trillion dollars a year in lost productivity and profitability. As every generation wants to be defined by its own ideals when it enters the workforce, understanding what motivates younger employees can mean the difference between a company that thrives, as opposed to a company that barely survives, or worse, dives. Dr. Orieux is committed to helping companies thrive. Since 1993, Dr. Orieux has been a keynote speaker, workshop trainer and management mentor to hundreds of CEO’s, senior management and business owners. His experience and track record proves that the most successful businesses are those with a defined vision that is communicated to every employee, along with purposeful guiding principles which create a corporate culture that recognizes, appreciates and affirms its workers. Ararat Consulting provides the necessary training to create such a corporate culture, then provides follow up training and mentorship to a company’s leaders and management team to ensure implementation and execution of these same training models.

In his personal time, Kevin has been very involved with numerous boards on the national and international level in healthcare. He has also provided pro-bono help to medical charities involved in finding cures for diseases such as cystic fibrosis and retinitis pigmentosa, as well as organizing fundraising efforts to non-profits that provide clean water in developing nations. One of his greatest forms of personal and professional fulfillment comes from his volunteer work mentoring young adults to achieve personal success and contentment in their work and personal lives.
